SID TV 2019: Data Detective - film for 7-11 year olds

We've created a Virtual Reality app, DataDetective, that allows 7-11 years to explore a virtual house while learning about consent online and the ways in which their information might be shared online. This film is to be used alongside the Education Pack for 7-11 year olds

To best experience this film, you will need to download our Data Detective app from the Play Store and use a pair of Virtual Reality goggles. These can be purchased very reasonably for around £5 - something like Google Cardboard or other similar products will work perfectly.

The accompanying film below is an illustration of how a group of pupils from Pinhoe Primary School used the app in their Safer Internet Day activity. It shows the app in action and the type of conversations it encourages in the classroom so it will help you with ideas on how you can run such activities with your pupils.

Download app instructions here.

You can also see the film on our YouTube channel or download by visiting Vimeo.

We would like to thank Pinhoe Primary School in Exeter for their support in creating the film.

Don't have a VR headset? Check out the play-through video below.

If you are not able to watch the film using Virtual Reality glasses, we have produced a 2-D screen capture of the app environment and this can be viewed in the traditional way with your students.
