Co-funded by the European Commission, The Professionals Online Safety Helpline (POSH) was set up in 2011 to help all members of the community working with or for children in the UK, with any online safety issues they, or children and young people in their care, may face. What we do

As the only helpline in the UK solely dedicated to supporting the children’s workforce, we offer free and independent advice on any number of online safety issues, including:

Privacy, online reputation, gaming, grooming, cyberbullying, sexting, inappropriate behaviour on social media and more.

We have unique relationships with industry - including direct channels to escalate concerns to social media companies and many websites.

The helpline is available: Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm. All email enquiries will be responded to during our normal working hours.

Please Note

We are primarily a signposting, advice, and mediation service, so any urgent risk to children should be dealt with via normal safeguarding procedures.

Due to the nature of the service, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed, although we will endeavour to protect anonymity where possible and will discuss beforehand if we need to share information with other relevant agencies.

*Calls cost the same as standard landline starting '01' or '02'. If your phone tariff offers inclusive calls to landlines, calls to 0345 numbers will also be included.
