Safer Internet Day 2017 – SID TV Launch

20 Dec 2016 Becca Cawthorne

The SID TV films for Safer Internet Day 2017 in the UK have just launched on the UKSIC website!

From advice from our favourite puppets Red and Murphy, to a photo booth with selfie filters – you can find it all in our brand new SID TV films.

The films are one of our resources for schools and organisations, they are designed to help you to celebrate Safer Internet Day and to help you to start a conversation about online safety.

The SID TV films are designed to complement the Education Packs for schools. The films look at the power of images and videos online and are suitable for the same age groups as the education packs.

4 – 7 year olds

For children aged 4 to 7, we have two short films featuring our good puppet friends Red and Murphy who chat about what children should do before they watch videos online, especially YouTube videos. In our second film for this age group Red and Murphy also talk about what an avatar is, and how children can create an avatar without giving out personal information.

7-11 year olds

In the ‘Bigger picture’ film, for those aged 7 to 11, we have a fantastic group of children who look at how images can create an impression and how there is often more than meets the eye in an image online.

11-14 year olds

For young people between 11 and 14, we have the ‘Selfie Shack’ film – where young people share why they take selfies and how they share them.

14-18 year olds

Finally, for those aged 14 to 18, our ‘Your image – your future’ film looks at online reputation and how images posted online can shape young people’s future lives and careers.

You can find the films on our website and our YouTube channel (subtitled versions available).
