Antigone Davis, Head of Global Safety, Facebook said:

“Nearly 9 out of 10 kids say they send their friends a kind message when they feel sad or upset. Nearly 7 out of 10 say chatting online with their friends cheers them up. These numbers reflect the incredibly positive role social technologies can play in young people’s lives. At Facebook, we want the time that young people spend online to be time well spent, to bring them closer together. That’s why we are proud to support Safer Internet Day and continue to introduce new ways to keep young people safe – from our Parents Portal to help answer questions about how Facebook works to our in-school program, offering digital safety ambassadors to every UK secondary school in partnership with Childnet International and The Diana Award. We want young people and those who care for them to have access to the information and guidance they need to feel safe and build community.”
